Half Birthday!

Max is 6 months old already! Sometimes the days seem long, but that 6 months sure went by quick!

Max is still a happy guy, he loves to smile and really loves when his big sister is around... he will almost always stop crying if she comes to give him a hug or a kiss, which she is pretty good about doing!  He has been a little fussy lately, but I think that is because he now has 2 teeth!  They are the bottom 2 front teeth and they both have broken through, but still hard to see.  He is also always fussy when we are trying to have dinner, without fail. Hopefully he will grow out of that phase before too long!

I waited to do this post because we went to the Dr. today to get Max's official height and weight!  He is 20 pounds and 11 ounces (94th percentile) and 27" tall (65th percentile)! He is a big little guy but we love him!  He currently wears 6 and 9 month clothes, but the 6 month things are getting small quick! He is in a size 3 diaper, but I will be moving him up to size 4 with the next box of diapers I buy (which will be the same size as Ella!).

He still takes four 8oz bottles a day but we are adding in baby food or rice cereal 3 times a day now.  He has only had sweet potatoes and squash so far and the squash didn't seem to sit well with him as he was very very cranky after that.  He is still a good sleeper, although he has been waking up a few times lately, I had thought it was because his paci fell out so I was going to try and break him of it, but I think it was the teeth, now that those have come through he has gone back to normal!

As of his birthday he can finally roll over both ways! Which is really nice because he would get very frustrated stuck on his stomach!  Now that he can roll both ways he is getting around!  Ella crawled pretty early so I don't really remember this stage, but he will roll across a room to get to something he wants!  He is also getting better and better at sitting on his own and can sit and play with toys for a little while before losing his balance.  He is also playing with and grabbing onto toys more than ever before!

For his half birthday (or by coincidence) we decided to take Max to the pool for the first time!  He has been sitting up pretty well so we thought he might do ok in the pool float we have and he LOVED it!  He was splashing and kicking the whole time we were in there!  We had a lot of fun :)

A look back at the last 6 months...

Max Grows Up

Max has hit a lot of milestones in the last couple days!  It is very bittersweet because it doesn't really seem possible yet!

He had his first baby food Tuesday!  He LOVED it!  We have been trying rice cereal for weeks now but he just wasn't getting the hang of it, finally Tuesday morning he scarfed it down, I happened to be going to the store that day so I decided to pick up some sweet potatoes, they were a big hit!

He is also soooo close to being able to sit on his own!  This picture is blurry because he isn't very stable yet, I'm sure he will have the hang of it soon.  I'm really looking forward to this because I can tell he gets frustrated laying down, but he is too big for the bumbo!

And I don't have a picture of this one, but he has a tooth that broke through!  Which explains why he has been a little more cranky lately... and all the drooling :)

Too big, too quick!

A Day at the Fair

The county fair is currently in town and it is only 1 exit north of us.  Nick wasn't really interested in going so I decided to take the kids this morning, it turned out to be a really great time! It was only about 75 out and there was a nice breeze, plus admission for Ella and Max was free, so it was only $5!  Since we went in the morning during the week there were no crowds!  Ella really enjoyed looking at all the animals.  She currently does NOT want to have her picture taken, so this is the best I've got ;)

The chickens and roosters were a little loud!

Ella actually knew all the animals she was seeing and kept calling them out by name, it was pretty cute!

She loooooved this bunny - she kept pointing and saying "bunny! bunny! bunny hop! bunny jump!"

She also loved the llamas, we had to walk through the llama tent twice because she did NOT want to leave.  They all had this funny haircut... I'm not sure why... unless llamas are having an identity crisis and think they are giant poodles.

Max did great the whole time, he is pretty much always good on stroller rides!

Above is an example of where she was NOT going to pose for my photo, below was totally by chance that she is looking and smiling, but she had just ran over to this "pig" and was pretty excited about it so I lucked out!

The midway was closed for the morning, but it was fun to walk through and Ella was too little for 99% of the rides anyway.  It also made for some neat pictures.

Happy 4th of July!

We had a really nice 4th of July!  Nick actually took it off of work this year so that was even better!  We decided that we were not going to try and take Max to the fireworks so we went to the parade in the morning to make sure we did something fun to celebrate.

We got the the parade about a half hour early, easily found parking and a great spot to sit! I was most worried about this because we weren't all that familiar with the area the parade was in so I wasn't sure how that would be. Max slept until the police cars came through, but thankfully he didn't cry or fuss - just woke up :) Ella did really great! She was clapping and waving to everyone who went by and even learned that it is important to have a hand out for candy ;)

Showing off his patriotic outfit

Happy guy during the parade

Candy please!

Mommy and Auntie Em made her little flag shirt :)

Clapping for the veterans

Waving to everyone!
After the parade we just played at home and grilled out for dinner.  Nick and I played Skip-Bo during Ella's nap, and Nick had a cute little assistant.

After the kiddos were in bed we were able to watch fireworks in the distance from 5 or 6 different communities from our bedroom window... and thankfully Ella & Max slept right through them!

Hope everyone had a great day!
