Missing Ella

So, I knew that once I went back to work keeping up with the blog would be hard... but I didn't know just how busy I would be!  It is hard to find time, so I apologize!

I just got back form a work conference in Chicago for a couple days and I am happy to be back and to just get to be Mommy for the weekend!  I missed my little bear so much!  And Daddy had the house all clean when I got home - a very nice surprise, and I am not sure how he had the time to do it!

I got a couple picture messages while I was away:

Ella continues to do great!  She has started to sleep through the night again which is really wonderful - we are all much more well rested and happier now :)

Ella contineus to be on the verge of crawling and sitting up on her own - she is truly amazing in so many ways :)

And with that I'll leave you with a picture from 80's night at my conference - complete with Mel's orginal 1980's crimper.

Nice Weekend

Yesterday we did go to Cabela's and took Ella into the aquarium part - she LOVED it!  She was just looking all around, so much so that we could hardly get a picture without her head all a blur!  It was pretty darn cute!

Today we took Ella antiquing and she enjoyed her time in her carrier she did really well in the quiet store and we picked up some fun finds with Nick's birthday money!

We had to put Ella's hands out the top of the Bjorn so that she could get at her thumb.

This is Daddy trying to console Ella after he cheered so loudly when the Lions scored a touchdown to tie it up with 5 seconds left.  She was not nearly as happy about it as he was!  Too bad they couldn't finish up overtime in the same fashion!  She said the Lions are just OK!

Labor Day Weekend

A week late but I wanted to re-cap

Ashely, Jeffy, Molly and Oscar arrived just in time for the MSU football game and pizza on Friday night!

The babies had on matching onesies - so cute!  Molly seemed so big and Ella seemed so small again next to one another.  We had a lot of fun watching Molly try and play with Ella.

Saturday we just hung out and watched football all day and chatted.  I made sandwich for 12 which fed us for lunch and dinner and also taco dip and Nick made his buffalo chicken dip, so we had lots of snacking going on - which is pretty much what football Saturday's are made for!

Sunday we went to the Brewer's game!  Ella and Molly did great all in all!  We had to cover Ella's ears during the cheering and fireworks for home runs... which I'm pretty sure there were at least 5, and I think more.

She even had lunch at the ball park... but then pretty much slept on daddy though the game :)

better than peanuts and hotdogs?

Ashley let me know that Comerica Park hands out first game certificates so we went to guest services to see if Miller Park did and walked away with a free momento for the baby book!

Don't worry - the Brewers are just her NL team - Tigers are still first!

After the game we went downtown to Rock Bottom for some dinner and while we were waiting Nick played a game of Jenga with some locals who appeared to have spent their afternoon at the bar... it was entertaining!

Monday the Latinen's had to pack up and head home.. but not before Oscar had some fun with one of Lucky's toys, good thing she has LOTS!

Happy Birthday Grandpa!

This morning we woke up to some HOT and HUMID weather.  We got up kind of early so we decided to head to our favorite breakfast place, Maxfield's, for some yummy breakfast.  We let Ella go in her pj's but I'll have to teach her that we typically do not make public appearances in our jammies.

I spent the rest of the morning and a good chunk of the afternoon re-painting my dresser.  I'm pretty happy with how it turned out I think.  Although I am still somewhat on the fence.  I'm thinking about painting Nick's yellow but I have to convince him yet.  We will live with this one and then decide.  Either way, his is getting painted too.

While I was doing that Nick and Ella took in some Olympic action today and we got to see the double amputee compete in the 400 meter.  Pretty inspiring!  He did qualify for the finals... so he could win gold!  I then attempted to make "Pizza Balls" per a recipe I found on Pinterest.  I don't know if I did something wrong or what, but they were time consuming to make (who would have thought?!) and they weren't that good.  We were both pretty bummed.

And finally, today is my Dad's birthday so of course we had a special photoshoot!

Weekday Adventures

The last couple of days have been pretty uneventful around here.  Ella and I have mostly been hanging out around home except I do try and run at least one errand a day to break things up a bit.  Yesterday we did some returns at Kohl's and found some great clearance dresses for next summer (she already has her 4th of July outfit of course).  Daddy forgot to tell us that they just did markdowns (I wonder why?) so there was a lot to choose from!  I also packed away all her newborn size clothes already (how is that possible?!!).  There is a little more room in her closet now.

Getting ready for a beach fire in 1 week!
Today we ventured out to the Mom's Group that our hospital offers.  We hung out for about an hour, it was nice to socialize and have some adult conversation during the day.  There were about 4 other moms there plus the woman from the hospital who runs it.  It may be our only trip though since they meet on Friday's during the day and I will be up north (!!!) for 2 of the remaining 4 that I have left.

After that we picked up some things at Target and Home Depot.  I plan to re-paint our dressers (again) this weekend, so I had to get some supplies.  Hopefully that goes smoothly!

Sleeping through our shopping
This weekend we will also hopefully be going to the Wisconsin State Fair to get the world's best baked potato!  YUM!  It is only supposed to be 79 on Sunday - I sure hope that holds true because if it is 90 I am never going to convince Nick to go to a packed fair ground!

Olympic Swimmers?

Today we met up with Jim and Lisa to take doggies Lana and Lucky swimming, it was a nice day at the dog beach.  Watching some more Olympic action tonight and fighting off a headache, so this will be short and sweet.

Port Washington

We had a really nice day today!  Nick got some yard work done while I got a little housework done and Ella had some tummy time.  Her head control just keeps getting better - plus her little expressions are just so cute!  I didn't quite capture it in the video but I'm sure my mom will enjoy it anyway ;)

Ella fell asleep while playing on Mommy and Daddy's bed today with Daddy.  I thought she looked like such a big girl here!  I just love her little chubby legs!

After dinner we took a sunset outing to Port Washington to walk on the pier.  It was a great evening and the breeze was very refreshing and Lake Michigan was beautiful - reminded me of home.

Sunset and marina behind us
Ella slept in her carrier the whole way.  I have tried out her carrier around the house but this was our first outing with it and it worked great!  I know Grandpa Boehm isn't a fan - but we would have never made it out on this rocky pier without it.

Beautiful view, calm lake
At the end of the windy pier
It was strange to realize that the sunset would not be over the lake, I still have a hard time remembering that in Wisconsin Lake Michigan is to the east since all my life Lake Michigan has been to the west.  I really struggle with directions here for that reason because it is engrained in my memory to say/think that the lake is to the west.

Port Washington has several charter fishing boats that dock there and when we got back to the marina one had just gotten back their catch, it was fun to see some of the bounty of the Great Lakes.

We are home now relaxing and watching some Olympic action!
